Michael Parrett is the founder of Michael Parrett Associates.

He is a chartered scientist, chartered building surveyor, chartered building engineer, chartered building consultant and building pathologist, with an vast experience and knowledge of diagnosing problems in buildings of all kinds.

His appearance in the BBC 2 series Raising the Roof, helped establish the extreme rarity of Rising Damp caused by damp proof course failure and the futility of chemical injection.

He has produced two videos on damp diagnosis with world-wide distribution and in 2003 his best-selling co-authored book Diagnosing Damp, the first independent practitioners guide on dampness, was published by RICS Books.

He was awarded the PRIDE of Lewisham 2000 for his pioneering work in over 30,000 properties, saving the Lewisham Council in excess of £60,000 per year over 15 years without once using a chemically injected damp proof injection.

He was outright winner at the British Building Maintenance Awards (BBMA) in 1997.

He is the Master elect of the Worshipful Company of Constructors, and he took the Freedom of the City of London in 2005.

Michael is a member of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB); he was the face of their National Maintenance Week campaign in 2005 and his work has been featured in articles for the Sunday Telegraph, Evening Standard and on BBC national radio.

He is renowned for his independence, integrity and breadth of knowledge and is regularly used as a single jointly instructed expert witness to both parties in litigation for landlord - tenant disputes.  Michael Parrett and Michael Parrett Associates specialise in major complex loss investigations on behalf of leading loss adjusters and insurance groups.
